Equipment Foot Health Practitioners need to start

When first starting out as a self employed Foot Health Practitioner or Foot Care Nurse it can get quite overwhelming if you are not sure what equipment or tools you need to set up your foot care business, believe me I’ve been there and I know! So to help you out I have made a list of what I believe to be the basics when starting up (as you become more experienced you will buy more or less equipment and tools that you need) but for now lets start with the basics. 

Equipment Domiciliary Foot Health Practitioners Need to Start up | Setting Up | Start Up Check List

1. Autoclave (to sterilise your instruments after washing them)
2. Ultrasonic Cleaner (thoroughly clean instruments before sterilisation)
3. Foot Rest (to rest your clients foot on)
4. Debris tray or disposable paper roll (to catch any debris)
5. Stool (to sit on)
6. Nail Drill (to help with nail thickness reduction, filing, etc.)
7. Tight Container (for dirty instruments)
8. Sharps Bin (to dispose of sharps/blade remover once full)
9. Blade remover (to remove blade from blade holder and contain it)
10. Goggles (to protect eyes against dust)
11. Head Torch/lighting (for better visibility especially during darker seasons)
12. Monofilament device (for part of your neurovascular assessments if you’ve been trained to use it)
13. Doppler (checking pulses if you have been trained to use and diagnose)
14. Domiciliary bag (to contain your equipment/kit)
